Procedure

During the procedure, your ENT physician will first apply local anesthesia to numb the inside of your nose. Then, they will insert a small wand into your nostril. The wand uses low-temperature radiofrequency (RF) energy to target and calm down the overactive nerves that cause rhinitis symptoms. The RF energy can also help shrink inflamed soft tissue in the nose to relieve congestion.

The entire procedure takes about 15 minutes and you can return to your normal activities immediately afterwards.

Outcomes

Studies have shown that RhinAer treatment can be effective in reducing chronic rhinitis symptoms. A two-year study published in the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology found that RhinAer treatment resulted in a significant improvement in symptoms through two years. The study also found that 80% of patients had a minimal clinically important difference (MCID) of 30% or greater reduction in their symptoms from baseline.
